Why ryanair is so cheap

It's always nice to have a free cup of water, coffee or soda on your flight, however, RyanAir does not give you any of this for free. According to Fox News, the airline can be so stingy with water that passengers on a RyanAir flight were stalled for 6 hours and denied water!

Talk about frugal. It is important for most travellers to have a relaxing and stress-free flight, however, with RyanAir, you can bet yourself a million bucks that you will have anything but! Considering the plane is decked out in yellow just about everywhere you look, the very distracting and chaotic colour might not make your flight as easy as expected. Flying can induce motion sickness due to a plethora of reasons, turbulence and constant movements being one of them.

While having sick bags on flights is by no means a law, says Aviation, most airlines include it for passenger comfort. Well, when it comes to RyanAir, comfort is definitely not key, as they do not include sick bags on any of their flights. Do you know how most airlines include their safety cards in the seat pockets?

Well, considering RyanAir does not have any seat pockets, there's no better place for them to post the safety card than directly in front of your face. With that being said, you'll be stuck looking at it for most of your flight, it'd be hard not to! When you buy a ticket for a RyanAir flight, you are also buying yourself a ticket to a very low-budget casino! According to RyanAir, the airline offers passengers to purchase scratch cards during their flights with chances to win cars, money and other prizes.

While it'd be great to win something, the odds are most likely not in your favour. According to Investopedia, RyanAir is quite aggressive in its ways of making as much money as possible.

Considering you are paying very little for your ticket, it's no surprise that you will be constantly bugged and bothered for purchases pre, during and post-flight. Get ready to say "no thanks" a lot of times! With small airports come very random locations. Considering low-cost airlines like RyanAir flight in and out of small airports, you'll most likely be stuck heading to an airport very far from the city centre.

According to Euro Cheapo, airports are sometimes so far out that the city in which you're landing is quite misleading. With airports literally being hours out of the city centre, you can find yourself having to travel quite a long time to reach the airport in which RyanAir flies in and out of.

Ryanair does not offer as many flights per day as other major airlines do, and you might not even be getting told the proper times to begin with! According to the Telegraph, RyanAir has been caught lying about flight times in the past, so much that there have been minute differences in what passengers are told versus the proper time of travel.

If flying with RyanAir was not bad enough, booking a flight can be an absolute nightmare. Their website is a hot mess, one that is worth avoiding the airline to begin with. You may still be subject to overweight fees or fees for additional checked luggage. Prior to arriving at the airport, you should check in online to avoid a fee. There are only two classes of boarding on Ryanair: priority and general. Those who have purchased a Plus or Flexi Plus ticket get priority boarding.

You can also buy priority boarding and two checked bags as an add-on to your Standard Fare ticket. Everyone else will board in general boarding. Expect long boarding lines because there are only two boarding groups. It's best to arrive early to your gate to scope out the boarding lines. Depending on the airport, passengers will board directly onto the jet bridge, or will have to board a bus to arrive at the aircraft. If you don't pay extra to select your seat, you will get assigned a seat at random.

That means you may end up in a middle seat or split up from your group. Other people on the flight said the same, and some people said this is regular and if you want to sit next to each other, you pay even if [the] seats [are] available," says TripAdvisor user Keith P.

The legroom does not necessarily feel luxurious, according to Ryanair customers. However, many passengers found the Ryanair staff helpful and the airplanes clean. Andy S. Staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks and food could be purchased during the flight. Legroom was poor but I'm not tall so that wasn't an issue for me.

On TripAdvisor, Patrick K. Started to get back problems after a couple of hours. To mitigate this issue, you can book a Ryanair seat with extra legroom. Lyn from Million Mile Secrets says , "The best seats on Ryanair offer 40 inches of legroom while the cheapest seats offer up to 30 inches.

We chose standard seats. We were all comfortable, even my husband, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall, on this under 2-hour flight and felt it was similar to flying on Southwest. Just as with many low cost carriers, Ryanair operates a fleet of only one aircraft. This means that turnaround times for a Ryanair are much less than for a much bigger airline, such as British Airways.

Rather, they prefer their passengers to walk from the terminal to the aircraft itself. And there is a reason for this. Airports charge for everything, including jetways. Not only does it make it so passengers get some exercise before flight, but it also saves the airline a huge amount of money! Thus, those savings are passed over to passengers. Whilst this bottom line focus may have been a major problem for some employees, it has been great for passengers!

This all translates into really cheap airline tickets! A few years ago, I flew to Barcelona with some friends and flew on a Ryanair This allows them to be so cheap, as they have more buying power.

Not only are these airports far cheaper to operate from in terms of airport fees, but the airline is also a major source of business for them. Ryanair fees are well known for being absolutely extortionate! The airline is known for having fees for everything. Even trivial things, that other airlines would overlook, come with hefty charges.

If the name on your passport is different to one on your boarding, the gate team will have to reprint your boarding ticket to match your passport. Whilst it may appear to be unfair, as long as you are aware of the fees which are really well documented! In-flight entertainment, complimentary food and drink and the three-class configuration are all eliminated in order to keep overheads down.

If you would like these luxuries minus the three-class configuration , you can still get them during flight. However, they will cost you and can be purchased in flight by asking a flight attendant. The airline has made a habit of buying and setting up several subsidiaries. All of these subsidiaries follow the same low cost model that their parent company does. Most of these are ex-Ryanair s older, less fuel efficient variants like the Sometimes, the airline has attempted to enter a market and has failed, or has taken ownership of a beloved national airline with liquidity issues.

The subsidiaries also provide a much needed source of income for the airline. During the low periods of air travel, these subsidiaries are pooled together and used to keep all subsidiaries afloat. During the profitable periods of air travel, their profits are pooled together in order to invest in the least profitable areas, in order to make them most profitable.

Again, very impressive!
